CROCHET HOOK

A 3.00mm crochet hook or size needed so that no holes appear in stitches through which stuffing may show

REQUIREMENTS

Wool needle for sewing up.

Lincraft siliconized stuffing premium soft fill. Silver embroidery thread

A stitch marker (optional).

TENSION

Tension is not important for this project.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

mr = magic ring (alternatively 3ch, sl st into beg ch and dc into a ring).

DIFFICULTY 

BAUBLE (worked in continuous spirals)

Using 3.00mm hook and C2, work 8dc into mr.

1st round: [1dc in next dc, inc in next dc] 4 times … 12dc.

2nd round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 2nd round twice.

Change to MC.

5th round: [1dc in next dc, inc in next dc] 6 times … 18dc. 6th round: [1dc in next dc, inc in next dc] 9 times … 27dc. Beg to stuff. Cont to stuff as you go.

7th round: [1dc in each of next 2dc, inc in next dc] 9 times … 36dc.

8th round: [1dc in next dc, inc in next dc] 18 times … 54dc.

9th round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 9th round once.

11th round: [1dc in each of next 8dc, inc in next dc] 6 times … 60dc.

12th round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 12th round 9 times.

22nd round: [1dc in each of next 8dc, 1dc over next 2dc] 6 times … 54dc.

23rd round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 23rd round once.

25th round: [1dc in next dc, 1dc over next 2dc] 18 times … 36dc. Stuff well to fill a shape.

26th round: [1dc in each of next 4dc, 1dc over next 2dc] 6 times… 30dc.

27th round: [1dc in each of next 3dc, 1dc over next 2dc] 6 times… 24dc.

28th round: [1dc in each of next 2dc, 1dc over next 2dc] 6 times… 18dc.

Fasten off. Complete stuffing. Using the tail of yarn, thread in and out around the last few decs and gently pull hole closed.

FROG BODY (worked in continuous spirals)

Using 3.00mm hook and C1, work 6dc into mr.

1st round: Inc once in each dc … 12dc.

2nd round: 1dc in each dc to end.

3rd round: [1dc in next dc, inc in next dc] 6 times … 18dc.

4th round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 4th round twice.

7th round: [1dc in each of next 5dc, inc in next dc] 3 times … 21dc.

8th round: 1dc in each dc to end.

9th round: [1dc in each of next 6dc, inc in next dc] 3 times … 24dc.

10th round: 1dc in each dc to end.

11th round: [1dc in each of next 7dc, inc in next dc] 3 times … 27dc.

12th round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 12th round once.

14th round: [1dc in each of next 8dc, inc in next dc] 3 times … 30dc.

15th round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 15th round once.

Beg to stuff lightly.

17th round: [1dc in each of next 3dc, 1dc over next 2dc] 6 times … 24dc.

18th round: 1dc in each dc to end.

Fasten off. Complete stuffing. Do not overstuff. Frog Body will need to be flattened slightly to sit upon Bauble. Using the tail of yarn, thread in and out around the last few decs and gently pull hole closed.

EYES (make 2)

Using 3.00mm hook and C3, work 6dc into mr. Change to C1.

1st round: Htr inc in each dc to end, sl st to beg htr … 12htr.

2nd round: 1 sl st in each of next 2htr, 1dc in each of next 8htr, 1 sl st in each of next 2htr … 12 sts. 

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

REAR LEGS (make 2 – worked in continuous spirals then turned rows)

Using 3.00mm hook and C1, work 6dc into mr.

1st round: Inc once in each dc … 12dc.

2nd round: 1dc in each dc to end. Rep 2nd round 5 times.

8th round: [1dc in next dc, 1dc over next 2dc] 4 times … 8dc.

9th round: 1dc in each dc to end. Stuff lightly.

10th round: Flatten end and 1dc in each of the next 4dc through both layers to close the end … 4dc.

Beg to work in rows.

1st row: 1ch, turn, 1dc in each of next 4dc … 4dc.

2nd row: 1ch, turn, 1dc in next dc, 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc in next dc … 3dc.

3rd row: 1ch, turn, 1dc in each of next 3dc. Rep 3rd row 4 times.

8th row: 1ch, turn, 1dc in next dc, 1dc over next 2dc … 2dc.

9th row: 1ch, turn, 1dc in each of next 2dc … 2dc. Rep 9th row 4 times.

14th row: 5ch, turn, 4dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sl st in each of next 3ch, 1 sl st in base of ch … 1st toe.

15th row: 5ch, 4dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sl st in each of next 3ch, 1 sl st in next dc … 2nd toe.

FRONT LEGS (make 2 – worked in turned rows)

Using 3.00mm hook and C1, leave a long tail at beg of work for sewing, make 3ch.

1st row: 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in next ch … 2dc.

2nd row: 1ch, turn, 1dc in each of next 2dc … 2dc. Rep 2nd row 4 times.

7th row: 1ch, turn, 1dc over next 2dc … 1dc.

8th row: 1ch, turn, 1dc in next dc … 1dc. Rep 8th row 5 times.

14th row: 4ch, 3dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sl st in each of next 2ch, 1 sl st into next dc … 1st toe.

15th row: 4ch, 3dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sl st in each of next 2ch, 1 sl st in base of ch … 2nd toe.

Rep 15th row once … 3rd toe.

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

HANGING RING

Using 3.00mm hook and all strands of silver embroidery thread, make 8ch, sl st to beg ch to form a ring.

1st round: 16dc into ring, sl st to beg dc … 16dc. Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

FINISHING

Sew Eyes to front sides of Body between rounds 4 and 10 approx 5 sts apart. Add a small amount of stuffing before sewing closed. Sew thigh of Rear Leg to side back of Frog Body between rounds 16 and

21. Section of Rear Leg worked in rows will be folded and brought forwards and outwards to be attached to Bauble. Ensure when Leg is folded, the right side of Foot is facing up. Sew Front Legs to sides of Body between Rear Leg and Eyes. Ensure the right side is up. Pin Frog to Bauble to get the desired placement. Position Feet as desired to wrap

around Bauble. Sew Frog to Bauble using yarn tails. Sew Hanging Ring to top of Bauble. Sew in all ends.
